Windows 11 Capturing for MDT and WDS on Windows Server 2022 usually fails for the normal capture or deployment tasks, because Windows 11 and also Windows 10 usually have Bitlocker on or perform updates and have installed AppX programs that are not capable of capture, that tells you everything the Panther log file in the Sysprep folder / tool because in the status Sysprep it usually flies around the ears no matter if you use the TouchLight VBS or boot directly into MDT. Therefore, follow the instructions below:
- out of domain, only workgroup is allowed
- Deactivate Bitlocker
- Deactivate Windows updates or wait for ongoing updates
- Read Panther logs and test Sysprep <<< this is where it usually fails
Press Windows Key and right-click uninstall Spotify + Disney apps
Run PowerShell in Admin mode
Get-AppxPackage -allusers Microsoft.OneDriveSync (italic with asterisks)
Copy the PackageFullName
Remove-AppxPackage -allusers -Package Copy PackageFullName here (italic with double brackets)
Run CMD in Admin mode
cd c:\windows\system32\sysprep
sysprep
Select generalize and reboot
Click next (WINDOWS 11 BUG - RESTART PROMPT IS SEND BEFORE CODE IS EXECUTED CORRUPTING YOUR DISK)
Click cancel instead of restart and sysprep will preform its duties and automatically restart when it decided.
